Warrington Borough Council will be voting this September to remove areas of the greenbelt to make way for executive housing. The housing proposed is unaffordable to majority of Warrington residents. Even the ‘affordable’ dwellings with shared ownership will require a £250,000 mortgage guarantee.
According to the Warrington Guardian (April, 2023), there are over 3,720 empty residential properties across Warrington which we feel could be brought back in to use as affordable homes which in turn will save our green spaces and help solve the local housing crisis.
Our Green Ribbon Trail is to raise awareness of the loss of greenbelt across Warrington & the surrounding areas.
